Product Overview

The PW Audio Quickstep Balanced Amplifier is designed specifically for a high-quality audio experience. It operates within a power supply voltage range of 6V to 15V DC, with a static current consumption of approximately 30 mA, ensuring stable performance. The amplifier features a discrete volume control with 1.5 dB steps, offering 31 gain settings, allowing users to quickly adjust to their desired volume.

In terms of gain options, the Quickstep provides a variety of choices, including low gain, high gain, and high-resolution analog mode, catering to different headphone requirements, with a maximum gain of +12 dB. Its frequency range is also extensive, covering a wide array of audio characteristics to ensure clear and pleasing playback.

Design and Features

The amplifier is equipped with fully balanced inputs and outputs, along with multiple input impedance options to accommodate various headphones; its output impedance is less than 1 Ω, further enhancing sound quality. For power supply, the Quickstep supports the use of a 9V battery or an external regulated power source, and it includes an automatic voltage doubling feature to boost driving capability, along with a built-in LC filter to eliminate noise.

Internally, the amplifier boasts a buffering capacity of 4500 µF, effectively reducing battery impedance and improving audio performance. In terms of amplification design, it utilizes four single OPA209 amplifiers to achieve optimal sound quality, focusing on the integrity of the audio signal path with SMD metal resistors and high-quality COG/NPO capacitors.

The exterior is made entirely of aluminum, offering both durability and a sleek appearance.

The Story of the PW Audio Quickstep Balanced Amplifier

About ten years ago, in the world of portable audio enthusiasts, the iMod defined the era, and headphone amplifiers became essential devices for audiophiles. At that time, enthusiasts were divided into different camps, including iMod, Kenwood, and iPod, with fans eager to enhance sound quality through amplification. Among them, Meier Audio's CORDA QUICKSTEP captivated countless headphone lovers with its silky-smooth vocal performance and powerful dynamic range.

As time progressed, we entered the era of the 4.4mm balanced connection. PWAudio founder Peter Wong, a devoted audiophile, was determined to bring back the classic sound of the past by seeking to translate the excellent features of the CORDA QUICKSTEP into a balanced version. With the support of Meier Audio's Dr. Jan Meier, PWAudio began this innovative development journey and secured production authorization.

In designing the new version, PWAudio took into account the diverse needs of modern headphones, adding four gain settings to enhance audio flexibility and adaptability. After a lengthy process of design and testing, PWAudio proudly launched this balanced amplifier in the fourth quarter of 2024.
